Nanami Matsui , MA, LMHC, LPC, LAC

Aloha!  I’m Nanami, a Licensed Mental Health Counselor and Licensed Addiction Counselor with nearly two decades of experience working with adults, adolescents, and older adults. I began my career in 2007, supporting survivors and families affected by domestic violence and sexual assault—an experience that instilled in me a deep commitment to creating a therapeutic space grounded in compassion, safety, and gentleness. Over the years, I have worked in diverse clinical settings including community mental health and crisis services, supporting individuals facing severe mental health challenges, addiction, and life transitions. These experiences have shaped my flexible, integrative approach to therapy.

I specialize in working with teens (15+), adults and seniors who are navigating depression, anxiety, relationship issues, phase-of-life transitions, and personal growth. I draw from evidence-based modalities such as Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR) for trauma healing, Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) and Solution-Focused Therapy to help clients build resilience and move toward meaningful change. My therapeutic philosophy centers on the belief that cultivating hope, faith, and consistent self-care is essential to achieving a fulfilling life.

Born and raised in Japan before moving to the U.S. in my childhood, I offer a unique bicultural lens in therapy and understand the complexities of cultural identity, assimilation, and mixed-race relationships. I am bilingual in English and Japanese and offer therapy sessions in both languages. I would feel honored to help you to overcome your challenges and find your inner freedom and peace.
